Time, time, time... The most precious asset that we insist on not using efficiently, preventing us from being more fulfilled and successful people.
Do you agree with this statement?
What if I told you that, just like you, almost 7 billion people in the world complain about the same thing? Would you believe me?
Well, you are not alone in this relentless search for “time” or in trying to stretch it. At the end of the day, it always seems like there is not enough. But is it really a question of lack of time? Or is it about how we organize it and where we spend it? Are we really applying our time to the right things?
These questions may sound provocative to many, and the truth is that they are. Some will say that they really don’t have enough time. Others, perhaps, will start to reflect on where they waste time. And there are still those who will make excuses, realizing that perhaps they are not managing their time efficiently.
Welcome to reality.
Let me tell you a little bit about my story. I was part of the "excuse team" because I knew I needed to change something, and change takes work! Of course, after the excuse, another one would always come along to justify the previous one. It was a hassle, instead of being honest with myself and admitting that I had habits that needed to be adjusted.
I remember thinking constantly: I don't have enough time for what is most important to me . And then the crucial question arose: what is most important to me, and where am I spending my time?
The epiphany:
When I realized how much time I was spending on things that didn’t add value to my day and that left me feeling discouraged and tired, I felt a real punch in the gut. I dragged it out for a while, but then one day a ray of light hit me. I decided to stop and roll up my sleeves to transform my routines. And what did I do?
First, I identified what was most important to me. The answer? My family. Without a doubt, spending time with my husband and daughters (even with the typical arguments) is what makes me happiest. Thus began my journey of transformation – adjusting my schedule, habits, and, most importantly, my priorities. I put what really mattered ahead of laziness and procrastination.
What changed?
It was simple! I made small adjustments to my daily routine: I reduced the amount of time I spent watching TV, limited my use of social media, and set a set time to wake up and go to bed. Small adjustments, but with a huge impact. Not only did I have more time to spend with my family, but I also started to have "extra" time for the things I love to do, like reading, writing, learning, and creating. I felt more fulfilled and, interestingly, it seems like I get a lot more done in a day now than I used to!
And you?
If you've ever been through something similar, share your story! You'll definitely help someone.
If you’re in this phase, stop for a moment and reflect on where you’re spending your time. Your family will thank you, and you? There’s no price on the satisfaction of investing your time and energy in what you truly love.
Do you have any questions? Try it.
