I want to have a GOOD car that everyone sees…
I have to have a house with a pool, 6 bedrooms, a large living room, …
To increase my number of followers my hair has to be perfect and it isn't. I have to schedule another appointment at the hairdresser...
Do you know that Louis Viton bag that was in the shopping center? …
All this is what I call "Seeming to Be". Well, I don't know about you, but this thing about fashion to please others has always irritated me a bit. Maybe because I was born into a family with a coat of arms and, at least for my mother, there were standards that we (I mean me and my sister) had to follow. I ended up having a childhood and adolescence with many rules, which ended up developing empowering beliefs in me (yes, empowering, I'll explain another day) to know what I don't want for my life. My dad helped me out by always taking the opportunity to do his thing and break my mother's rules 😁. He also said that the family with the coat of arms was on my father's side and not my mother's.
For those who don't know what it means to be a family with a coat of arms, I'll give you a brief explanation. Do you remember the time of Kings, and some countries still have these regimes? If you notice, there is a hierarchy adjacent to the royal family, with dukes and duchesses, counts and vincends. Well then! All these people have a coat of arms (like the one on the Portuguese flag), and that means they are of blue blood and as such belong to the Monarchy. So that's it. My paternal family has Monarchical descent, so maybe even I am a Duchess: Duchess Filipa Serras👸. Not at all, I don't have the stature to maintain such an appearance.
Anyway!
As someone who grew up in a context of apparent abundance (when in reality it was scarcity), the aversion to anything that could keep me on an unrealistic plane makes me feel uncomfortable and in a bad way, because I feel like I'm betraying myself. This is one of the reasons why I long for the future of the newer generations, who live in the Digital World and where everything is created with an eye to obsession. Without obsession there is no addiction, and without addiction there are no great economic machines that make money. And that would be fine, if society could understand where the limit of what is reasonable is and that having more does not mean being better.

There are many warnings made by experts regarding the subject of obsessions and addictions, and obviously my objective is just to share a thought on the subject and not to instruct or give any indications, since I do not have the necessary knowledge to do so. However, I cannot ignore the urgency of BEING more for our children. If we are the example of simplicity and abundance, our children will be the same. And I repeat, Simplicity and Abundance of BEING and not of HAVING.
In almost 40 years of life, I have learned that it is not having a lot, but BEING a lot that makes us better and more interesting people. And those who have this do not seek obsession, they seek PEACE, LOVE and TRANQUILITY.
The Greatness of Man lies in his simplicity of Living.
With this thought I'm leaving. See you soon!
